Work Independently - Working Without Direct Supervision

So, your manager doesn’t give you the direction you need.

You feel that, in your role, there is a lack of purpose and focus and certainly, a lack of feedback on the activities and projects that you are involved in.

You might see this as a big negative and that your manager probably needs to watch some of my management and leadership videos. Well, there's an idea.

However, if you were being micromanaged you would not be happy either, so, perhaps there is a positive in this scenario. Plus, I expect you don’t like being told what to do.

‘It's time to step up and make a difference’

It is time for you to understand what the business needs and how you can add value.

Time for you to:

  • get involved and make things happen

  • talk to colleagues, other managers and clients

  • see how you can take part and add value

  • volunteer

  • take responsibility for moving things forward

Take time to reflect on what is the purpose of your job and focus on delivering that. Keep at it until you are told otherwise.

Most companies have a lack resources and managers are at full stretch, so take the initiative and get involved. Don’t sit around and wait to be told what to do.

Along the way you will:

  • learn

  • gain new experiences

  • take on responsibilities

  • become more valuable

You will gain a new skill set and knowledge that others will recognise.

Naturally if you need any help with Work Independently - Working Without Direct Supervision please do get in touch.
