This is a really important issue—finding purpose and feeling valued seems like one of the biggest challenges we face today, no matter our age.
I have recently read about famous athletes and performers dealing with depression and anxiety, even though they "have it all".
Their struggles are widely discussed in podcasts and articles, and the same issues affect ex-professionals after the spotlight fades.
For everyday people, it feels like depression and anxiety are increasing across all stages of life, from school children to those in retirement.
Has social media made things worse?
Are we losing ourselves, constantly seeking instant gratification to feel “normal”?
But what is normal, really? I don't think I know anyone who fits that description, myself included.
How do we create purpose and value in our lives?
Perhaps it is something we need to actively seek out, both in and outside of our careers.
Does it need to be a topic we discuss with people?
Maybe talking about this subject and having more open conversations could be an answer to improving our wellbeing, I may be oversimplifying, but I would love to know your thoughts.
